How It Works

Discover

After a discovery call to determine your specific needs, I will create a design proposal outlining steps to meet your needs and a price based on how long I estimate the work will take me. Once you accept the proposal, sign the contract, and make an initial deposit, I’ll get started on designing a website tailored to meet the specific needs of your business!

Define

We will work first on the basic structure and content for your website. Working on these first ensures that we build a strong information hierarchy without getting distracted by the aesthetics. You will be responsible for the written content, but I can offer guidance to ensure that your content provides a good user experience.

We can then move on to the fun stuff, like colours and typography. I can ensure consistency with your already-established brand, or I can give you branding guidance depending on your needs.

Develop

I will then build your website. My preferred tool is Bricks, a WordPress builder that uses best practices for fast and accessible code. However, I can also build in Squarespace, depending on your needs. I will keep in touch throughout the process and set clear milestones so that you know exactly what to expect. Up to two rounds of revisions will be included at no extra cost to you.

Deliver

After the final payment is made, your website is ready to launch! I will assist you in the launch and also provide you with tutorials on how to update your content in the future.

I am also available for website care plans to monitor your website’s health and make necessary content changes on a regular basis.

What’s Included

Discovery Call

We will discuss your website needs, business goals, target audience, etc. This can also be done via email if that is your preference!

Content Planner

If you don’t have content yet, I’ll provide you with content guidelines and offer feedback. If you already have content, I can offer suggestions on how to optimise it for your needs.

Wireframes

I’ll create a blueprint of your site in a design tool so we can focus on information architecture and functionality before determining the stylistic direction.

Design Direction Call

We’ll discuss any revisions to the wireframes first, then I’ll show you design inspiration so that we can define the stylistic direction of your website.

Custom Design Mockups

I’ll update the wireframes with colours, typography, and images suited to your brand. You will have the opportunity to request revisions.

Website Development

I will develop your website in the page builder (such as Bricks for WordPress) that we have agreed on, following development best practices.

Basic SEO

Relevant site title and meta description, mobile-friendly design, alt text on all images, favicon upload, etc. are included. Keyword research is not included.

Website Launch Assistance

I'll help you set up hosting and connect to your domain.

Tutorials

I'll give you step-by-step tutorials so that you can manage and add content on your site.

Cost

Every project has different needs, so the cost will vary depending on the project. After we discuss your needs in a discovery call or email, I will create a design proposal outlining the steps I will take and a price based on the number of hours I estimate the work will take. You can expect a quote somewhere around these ranges:

  • $750-$1,000 for a 1-3 page website

  • $1,000-$1,500 for a 4-6 page website

  • $1,500+ for a 7-9 page or small e-commerce website

  • $2,500+ for a 10+ page or e-commerce website

Schedule a free discovery call to discuss your needs, or use the contact form to send me an email.

A Bit About Me

Hi there! I’m Laurel, a web designer located in Tbilisi, Georgia (the country, not the U.S. state!). Before getting into web design, I was a teacher for 7 years, and I even had a Master’s in Education—but I was feeling stressed and unfulfilled. I stumbled into web design and found that creating interfaces that solve problems for people is something I love!

I completed an intensive 9-month UI design course through CareerFoundry, and I have been designing websites and web apps for clients since the beginning of 2022. I love bringing clients’ visions to life on the web, and making my designs intuitive and accessible is important to me!

 FAQ

  • I require a 50% deposit at the onset of the project. The remaining 50% is paid at the completion of the project before I transfer ownership of the site to you.

  • In addition to your payment to me for designing and building your website, there are other costs to consider:

    1. Domain
If you don’t already own a domain, you will need to purchase one. I can offer suggestions on where to do this.

    2. Website Hosting
In order to launch your website, you will need a hosting service. We can discuss options together.

    3. Images

Where we get the images or graphics for your website will depend on your needs and preferences. In most cases, I recommend getting brand photography from a professional photographer, but if this is not an option for you at this time, I can find a range of free or paid images/graphics for you to choose from. You will need to pay for any premium stock images that you choose, and I will add the cost to your final payment.

  • The length of time depends on the scope of the project. You can expect 2-4 weeks for a small website, but longer for a more complex project. I’ll give you a time estimate in the design proposal before we start the project so you know what to expect.

But the time also depends partly on you: if you delay on supplying me with written content for the website and feedback on my work, then the process will take longer. If you supply me with content quickly, then we can get your website up faster!

  • I know, trusting another person with your vision can be hard! I include steps in my process that will help me to understand your design preferences and create a website with a look that you love. One step is inspiration gathering: I’ll show you examples of design directions that I think will suit your website needs, and you can choose the style that resonates with you best. I also include revisions in my process so that you can request changes.
